It seems there is a need for an Illustrator Tutorial forum so I went ahead and started this.

I've been using Illustrator for years and think it stands heads above all the other programs available out there for vectorizing graphics and just general illustration production.

I've been out of the graphics game for awhile now but hopefully, if not me then another user, can assist with issues regarding the program.

Anyway.

Well, it definitely won't be me, cuz I don't know SH*T! But as I learn, i'll pass it on here. So far, Illustrator makes me feel like a retard cuz I can't figure the damned thing out.
Then again, i haven't read any manuals either. DUH.

Thanks Journey.
so how do i reduce brush size (cursor size) in bloat tool ?
How about some one give us a 101 basic project tut for dummies that includes use of the most basic and useful tools, settings etc.

Hear here--I second that.
I'd think a good point of departure would be how to freehand, perhaps in each of the tools, because I know it's not the default setting in AI, which I find rather strange. But seeing as how J runs this joint that'll be completely up to him, of course.

2: Illustrator, like most programs, just takes time and trial. I spent ten years using it pretty much everyday and was still learning new things from it. Ofcourse that was up until 9.0 which is the current version I have and about when I stopped working in the graphic field.

4: Most options for tools are availabe by double clicking on the tool itself. The bloat tool options in CS2 version look like this. If you'll notice down at the bottom of the image it says you can use the "option" key to before clicking the tool. That may be just a Mactintosh only use but if you have a PC, there should be a similar key stroke available. ( I downloaded a trial version of CS2, so have patience with me :) )

Most other options can be found in the prefrences or menu items.

I used to have some basic tutorial files and I'll see if I can find them.

5: Since I probably won't be able to be around as much as I'd like, I wouldn't leave it up to me. ;) but I'll see if I can come up with a project utilizing the freeehand aspects of Illustrator as well as the other tools.

But if anyone else has anything they think might help out or a project that's worked for them, feel free to post it. :)

There's something strange about Inkscape's ability with lines, I can't quite put my finger on it (no pun intended), but the lines don't come out with the richness of character one would get out of, say, Illustrator, or Corel, or even Alias Sketchbook Pro. They come out kind of simplified. I can't describe it. Anyone know what I'm sayin'? It doesn't come out exactly as one moves, or draws.
